any advice from you coyote experts out there?

electronic call? could I get by with a cell phone app and an external speaker?

I've seen what looks like a tail on a thin wiggly pole to call em into on tv?

I think I have a squeaker that mimics a mouse. also some other squeal sound?

Thanks for any tips tactics or essential equipment.

I prefer hand calls. electronic calls work great ,don't get me wrong,I just prefer not to pack em around.

baby cottontail is my go to here in idaho but that doesn't mean it will work there. there are many sound to choose from. just have to get out there and experiment. coyotes learn quickly so sometimes it pays to not mimick others but try your own thing. mix it up. I generally(but not always) stick with one sound per call
I love to lip squeek when they hang up a couple hundred yards out but I use it very sparingly. sometimes it will drive em over the edge when they are wary an they just cannot resist coming closer.

visuals can help bring them in but not necesary.(again just more to carry)

when setting up be silent. coyotes can hear very well!
be invisible. remain still. coyote can see very well! camo and a scent blocker not a must but can't hurt.
be aware of wind direction. coyote can smell very well!
lol.I think you probly get it.

best advice, get out there an git-r-dun!
if you call them ,they will come!

Use to have really good luck back when I lived in Wisconsin with a distressed woodpecker call.

I hunt west central IL. I'm not an expert, make it out about 5 times a year. I got a really good deal on a primos alpha dog caller a few years back from amazon. Love it. I usually just choose one of the already programmed hunts that have a variety of calls mixed in. I usually call at least one in each time I go out but this year was a down year for me. I haven't tried one of the movement attracters. My caller has a jack output for one but the one from primos for my machine gets horrible reviews so I never tried it. I would guess the movement would hellp. Sometimes the yotes will come all the way into the call, sometimes they will hang up and stare from 100 yards away.

I use a Mojo critter decoy and am a believer in it. I've had coyotes charge it at times and had it keep their attention off me while I moved my rifle other times. I used mouth calls for years and did pretty well, especially when hunting with another person. I'd call and they'd be set up downwind to shoot. I won a FoxPro a couple years back and use it extensively now. I can set it and the decoy out, keep the attention away from me and my movement to an extreme minimum. I try to set up so I only have to move my eyes not head to spot incoming coyotes. Once I spot one I can time my movements to get the gun on them when they are not looking at me. I'm spooking less coyotes and shooting more this way.
