Been investing in oil for +20 years. Mostly ConocoPhillips, bought lots of stock at $28 in the mid 90's. Been through 3 stock splits with them. I worked for ConocoPhillips up until 2008. I'm currently with Enable Midstream on the natural gas side. So I'm playing the waiting game now & for the next 19.5 years! Turned 40 in January, so I'm still a ways out.
Our fam will be invested in it for a while just due to the fact that our place is sitting smack in the middle of Haynesville and it's what my wife has taken a liking to. She's actually starting to try to woo the midstream companies for clients............ :D

Haha yea - might be getting to be a long winter eh? Well here is another toss from left field for you boys that might explain the golden ratio, golden rectangle, Fibonacci sequence, and mythical 216 digit number..

The golden ratio is a simple mathematical relationship that is found naturally. This is why I think hunters might be interested in why a ram horns looks so cool.. Or if you like the big bang the golden spiral was created or created the big bang and has produced infinite number of golden spirals since...

The ratio is a number approximately equal to 1.6180339887498948482…… The Greek letter Phi refers to this ratio. Like Pi, the digits of the golden ratio go on forever without repeating.. It is also seen in humans roughly the first most two outer bones of your finger will be a golden rectangle proportion of your first finger bone. Your first finger bone is a golden rectangle with your hand bone and so on…

A golden rectangle is a rectangle in which the ratio of the length to the width is the Golden Ratio. In other words, if one side of a Golden Rectangle is 2 ft. long, the other side will be approximately equal to 2 * (1.62) = 3.24. This is the same ratio of Mona Lisa’s body in relation to her head…

If you have a golden rectangle and you cut a square off it so that what remains is a rectangle, that remaining rectangle will also be a “golden rectangle”. You can keep cutting these squares off and getting smaller and smaller golden rectangles to infinity. The goden rectangle is related to the Fibonacci sequence as they are similar and again found everywhere in nature.

Fibonacci Sequence is (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144...) each term is the sum of the two previous terms (for instance, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, ...). As you go farther and farther in this sequence, the ratio of a term to the one before it will get closer and closer to the Golden Ratio.

With the Fibonacci Sequence you do the opposite the Golden Rectangle. Start with a square and add a square of the same size to form a new rectangle. Continue adding squares whose sides are the length of the longer side of the rectangle; the longer side will always be a successive Fibonacci number. Eventually the large rectangle formed will be very close to a Golden Rectangle.

Also if you sum the squares of any series of Fibonacci numbers they will equal the last Fibonacci number used in the series times the next Fibonacci number. This property results in the Fibonacci spiral. As any Fibonacci spiral gets larger it gets closer and closer to the golden ratio.

Connecting a curve through concentric golden rectangles generates the mythical golden spiral.. This shape as it is everywhere in nature – the classic example is the nautilus shell, rams horns, tornados, dna, milky way, sunflowers, the universe, the face of sunflowers, the petals on flowers, the big bang, and the list goes on.



The 216 digit number is it even real or not?? It is speculated that within the 216 digit number the Fibonacci sequence is embedded... It is also speculated that within phi or pi that the 216 digit number resides and might even repeat in both.... To me it becomes clear that 216 is a direct reference to the Fibonaci numbers or a pattern of numbers that is somewhat easily remembered, a pattern, a sequence that reveals a “golden concept” that is found thought nature. Patterns based on asymmetry and spirals/logarithmic growth have a direct bearing on the evolution of our asymmetric dna, or resembling a double helix….

So is it a good campfire story or too much spare time during a snow period here in Co? Who knows but it all is interesting as I watch the snow fall and hope the winter does not turn too bad for the animals…

Oh yea and not many "office space" fans out there.

Office space is awesome. Its Dilbert humor, but in a movie. Probably have to work in the office environment to "get" it.

ColoradoV; I was a crypto tech. with a TS clearance when I was in the Marine Corps. The Fibonacci Sequence (AKA chain) was the basis of cryptology. We were told that if we ever mentioned this word in public, that some mysterious figures would appear in the middle of the night and kill us in our sleep. Sleep well, but keep your guns loaded.
Back to the original post, "If I won a million dollars." I would buy some .22 shells, if I could find any.

Man, Shoot! I was wondering whay that black suburban was hanging out at the end of the driveway!

So the million dollar question I have to ask but will not be answered - it has been theorized by some that our military found (well appropriated) a repeating set of 216 digits in pi that is connected to the Fibonacci sequence and are actually basing new crypto off of it? Things that make you go hmmmm...

Oh boy another suburban just showed up LOL!

Alright, I'll try my best. This is my situation though as a 30yo NR who didn't start on sheep when I should have:

The spherical characteristics of the Earth can be measured using pi, and centerpoint of its core measured using a variation of pi coupled with latitude/longitude coordinates. In many religions this is the symbolic location of Hades measured at roughly 10000*F.

Now use pi to form the perfect snowball. The melting point of this snowball begins at 32.1*F. Combine this info with the data above and you get Hades being 311.5x the melting point of the snowball................

I would tithe my 10% and invest most of money that was left. There wouldn't be much of a difference in my life that I live currently. I am blessed beyond belief. I would look to do an out-of state hunt or 2 with my father and some friends. My father has taught me so much and and worked so hard that that would be the best way that I know of to thank him.

I would retire first.spend more time on my ranch invest a little definantly hunt a lot more.and spend a lot more time in rv seeing the us.

Also boys today is pi day and at at 9:26.53 today it will be the approximate 3.141592653 or pi to 10 digits... This will only happen once in our lifetimes so get out and celebrate!

It is also Albert Einstein's birthday today..

Why should we care so much about pi?
