Don't think so. The Sitka sub-species starts about 1/2 way up the BC coast from Wash, as I recall, and then continues north.

to hunt Blacktails. Where would he go? DIY, on a budget. I'd like to experience the Pacific northwest and can't imagine not hunting deer to do it. Kind of a "must do" thing deer hunters dream of.

IMHO, hit the Trinity Alps or the Marble Mts, as they have some very nice bucks (many in the books) and because there is a lack of easy roads they can be a back pack hunters delite.
Also, look down around Covelo for the same reasons...
