44-and 45 are both great hunts IF one is lucky enough to draw them.you can reasonably expect a good 20 years between success in the drawing though. I would add that both units, while still great, are nowhere near what they were 20 some years ago, in terms of amount and quality(size) of big bucks to be had.
there was a time you could practically throw a rock and hit one. not saying that they are no longer there, just saying a great buck is no longer the norm.
in my opinion(take it as you will)there are many easier to draw units in idaho with every bit or more opportunity then 44 and 45.


41-42 come to mind. 54 should not be overlooked though it is not easy to draw either

20 years is a lot of non refundable hunting licenses for me to purchase while I'm waiting
can't say I disagree.
we do however have lots of over counter tags where one would have opportunity to kill decent buck. perhaps not the monster of a lifetime but a trophy nonetheless.
so... come or don't. nonres are welcomed but also not missed here.
