I am a non-resident and was lucky to receive a control hunt tag for Unit 11. I was hoping to get some helpful information about the area. I will be in the area next month to do some scouting and trying to become more familiar with the area. So far I have found that Hells Canyon lives up to its name and is very rugged.

Was a time it was known for great bucks, then fell off. Have not followed it since 2010, so it may be back to it's former self. Had friends that pulled some great bucks out of that unit. Never drew and got tired of the donation. They did roll and destroy their utv there. It's very steep in places. No idea where they went in, but I'd guess they went as far as they could on the toy, past where trucks may have to stop, then walked further, probably along the rim, before setting up to glass. They usually would walk in 1-3 miles when I hunted with them elsewhere to a starting point, and make a day out of it, ending close to the starting point near dark, then a march back to the rig.

Not much help, but have fun.

I was thinking of setting up camp around Lake Waha or another campground that is farther in south of Waha, and hiking in a good 3 or 4 miles.
