I was searching through the Idaho F&G website looking for information on left over deer tags and couldn't find squat. Since getting skunked on the Wyoming draw, I am looking for other options.

Are there any available? Is there a list posted some where?

Thanks for the help!

A lot of idaho units are over the counter...and there are no "leftovers" sold over a first come first serve basis like Wyoming. You either draw a tag, or you hunt OTC

Any tags not picked up after the second drawing are sold on a first come first served. It's just pretty slim odds that a desirable tag makes it to that point.

There will be a leftover list of all controlled tags that aren't picked up on August 1st., and you can apply on line from the 5th-15th. of August. I believe the drawing is the 16th. Then any leftover tags that are not claimed will be issued first come on line. The 2016 list is not out until August 1st. but you can view the list from previous year on the F&G web site.Believe it or not there will be some premium tags that are not claimed for the second draw! Good luck..

its surprising what tags come available on 2nd draw. sometimes people just forget to buy the tag in time and it makes it to 2nd drawing. this will prob back fire on me and worsen my odds but, your odds are sometimes better if not the same in 2nd drawing on lots of the leftover tags. 1 particular tag ive drawn twice in last 5 years, well between wife and I. last year there were 15 tags leftover and only 99 people put in for those 15 tags. everyone wants the earlier hunt in that zone, but knowing the area I know I have better odds at both the tag and a big bull. there are always they weird tags that are available that you have to have private land access to even consider it and those are all cow tags. but if ya take a looksee you just might have better odds on the 2nd go around. id say that's where 80% of all my controlled tags have come from. and I don't put in for garbage tags.

Thanks for all the replys!! I was not aware of the whole 2nd draw possibility.

I was actually looking for any tags from a unit where the applications were less than allotted tag quota. If they exist, are those also posted on Aug. 1st?
