Did I mess up by not shooting this buck? The area I'm hunting is now know for a lot of 80" bucks but there are a few around. I passed this buck up twice in the opening days of the hunt. After looking at the pics Im wondering if I under estimated at how big he was. Any experts want to guesstimate on what he scores?


Im going to go out this afternoon and try and find him, and maybe get an actual tape on him.

Does seem to lack a little mass and cutters appear a little short, other than that, nice buck. How many other hunters in the area? If you are really hung up on something bigger and you have already seen him twice, then keep looking. You can always go back toward the end of the hunt and pop him.

A couple of years ago in Wyoming I hunted 5 days and passed up 50+ bucks looking for something bigger. The unit was rated as a blue chip unit, so I kept looking. Myself and my pard were the only hunters in the area. Went back on the last day and shot a buck I had seem 3 times and passed on. The bad thing was saw another really nice buck (bigger than anything we had seen ) on the way back to camp. You just never know.

He is not 80"
That's for sure. If they are 80" bucks there and that's what you want keep looking. You have this one as a back up.

He appears to be a good buck but nothing special. Hard to tell from the pics but he doesn't look to have a lot of mass and the rear view pics are always deceiving. I'm guessing for length he would be a little shy of 14". I think you made the right choice to pass. For the most part you can usually find him again as Colorado Cowboy mentions if nothing better is located. Those pronghorns are extremely territorial and can be found if they're not shot or really pressured. I just returned from a goat hunt a coupe weeks ago from unit 73 in Wyoming. I saw a buck 3 different times that tempted me, however I shot a different buck that I liked better. Good Luck

Keep looking at them. The better bucks will start to stand out to you after a while. They are hard to judge but it will get easier the more you see. I would guess him around 70 from what I can see from the pics. Good Luck!

Well I think I found the buck again but it was just to dark to know for sure. I also found a few other canidates but I still like the looks of this buck. Hopefully he sticks around till I can get back out

We made it the area that he has been hanging out but was unable to find any antelope. The wind was blowing 25-35mph so we figured they were somewhere out of the wind. We continued to look in other areas of the unit, just in case a big one showed up. Right before dark, and probably 15min to late we finally made it back to where he has been hanging out. We were able to find some antelope and a buck, it was just to dark and too far away to make sure it was him. The goat did look good from 1.5 miles away so Im figuring it was him(i hope)
