Looking to grab an OTC tag here in AZ, season starts Jan 1-Jan 31st during the rut, I have found a couple nice Mulies while out scouting for Javelina on private land. I just started getting into archery and am curious if anyone has been successful with a bow in the desert? If you have any tips, I am all ears :)

I bowhunted the Arizona desert for over 35 seasons now and have been fortunate enough to arrow quite a few.......the best advice I can give folks is find the herd of does and watch them......there will be a good buck with them eventually.

If the area you are hunting offers a high vantage point, by all means utilize it with high quality glass and spot different groups in the mesquite flats. This is the preferred method by most bowhunters and the method I use 90% of the time. However, I also know of few washes and coulees I can still hunt into and have a little success once in a while. It all comes down to knowing the terrain and the deer habits of that respective area.

Just wondering what your thoughts are on the new Mathews no cam technology? I haven't held or shot one, but it seems like a very simple yet effective setup?

Glass is you best friend! Some great deer to chase out there....just got to find them. Lots of eyes/ears to deal with...take your time and it will come togather! Good luck...cant wait to get out there and hit it hard again this year!
