What's the one meal you look forward to the most when at hunting camp?

I just made Antelope chili. Took have and put into a vacuum seal bag and froze for elk camp in Nov. can wait for that meal after a long cold day hunting.

I seldom bother to cook when hunting .I tend to do a lot of hiking when I hunt. when I get back to camp most anything edible is a feast to me. then bed and in morn ,do it again.

now , if just camping, I play with the dutch oven.

the cobblers are usually a hit.

Man I've wanted to get a Dutch oven but I'm kinda in that same. Pat. I don't want to mess with making a full on dinner more like a warm up of pre made foods.

I like a good steak and baked potato. Just bury your potato in foil paper on the outside of your fire pit and when you get back from hunting it's good to go. I recommend not to close to the fire or it will be well over done.

I do enjoy cooking in camp, on a buddies cow hunt 2 weeks ago i made oxtail stew in tbe dutch oven. Its now the new camp favorite over ham and beans and gumbo according to the guys in camp. Served with a big salad and garlic bread.

That's why in camp designate a dinner guy each day. He only hunts till 3-4pm that day and is back at camp by 1800 so after dark a hot meal is waiting! :)

When hunting out of a camper and the sun goes down early, I eat like a king. Otherwise my hunting meals have become very spartan in the backcountry.
