Any suggestions on some good hunting books. Just had knee surgery that didn't go well and I can't walk for 6 weeks.

Theodore Roosevelt in the Badlands, by Roger DiSilvestro

It is an excellent book about the evolution of Roosevelt the conservationist complete with hunting stories in the North Dakota badlands, the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming and in Montana. The man is an enigma. He was keen to shoot the last remaining buffalo and grizzlies, yet he went on to become the father of the conservation movement. Very powerful book!

I've read some stuff from Roosevelt and Capstick, they are both great. I just ordered The Journals of Lewis and Clark.

Another fun book to read is Wildlife Wars by Terry Grosz.

The author was a California Game and Fish officer along with being a US Game Management Agent. The book is about his life in these jobs and has some great stories on what he did to nab poachers and others.

Forgive me I had a week moment thinking about how fun those books were to read. That one slipped my mind and I remembered it when I took a look in my book case.

Wilderness of Denali by Charles Sheldon or his other books Wilderness of... the Upper Yukon, the Desert Southwest, etc. ) These books are fantastic! My favorite read lately that is a modern hunting book is Alaska and Me by Billy Molls, do yourself a favor and order it with a movie or two! Hope you have a successful and speedy recovery!

The CJ Box books are good reads. They really hook you and keep you going! Not really hunting and completely fiction, but nice the same.

I just had a partially torn maniscus worked on so I feel your pain. Mine went pretty well but 1.5 months out and it still gets really sore.

Send me a PM with your name and address and I'll ship you off some reading material. Don't worry about sending them back, just pay it forward to someone else.
