I'm very new to hunting but will be shooting and processing a few wild pigs soon. My plan is to field dress. Then skin, quarter, joint at home.

My question is after I get home (or back to the truck): How can I easily hang the pig to skin, quarter, joint?

Can I buy a pickup truck attachment somewhere? Or something movable would be nice (especially on those rainy days).

Where do you pick up that triangular metal tool that can hook and spread the pigs legs for hanging?

What do you all do? Where can I pick up the gear/equipment?

Thank you in advance for any responses!

Grant, I always skinned down the hind legs down and across between the legs, either on the quad or preferably on the tailgate of the truck before hanging the pig up. I also ran across a smaller gambel somewhere that works very well for pigs. It's 23" tip to tip, but. 20" bend to bend! Skinning the hind legs before hanging a pig makes everything easier! I've skinned a lot of hogs! Also hang the pig
Just like a deer in the slot between the Achilles' tendon and the bone!

This pic is almost identical to our camp setup. I have found this to be the best way to gut, skin, etc. we do all of our deer and hogs here. The triangular tool is a gambrel and bass pro or any outdoor store will have them for around $15. We always take rope and tie the front legs off to keep from swinging back-and-forth. You could always tie rope to the gambrel and use a tree to do this if you desire to do in the woods. Hope that helps.

Amazon sells everything. Check with them for game racks and gambrels. Cabelas, bass pro, sportmans guide all sell skinning supplies also. A tree limb and a rope does just as good. I've skinned quite a few pigs just laying them on a tailgate and skinning them there. If a pig has large enough tusks you can make a loop and snug it down over their upper tusks and hang them that way. Watch YouTube. I'm sure there are several hundred videos on game skinning and meat care that you can watch on there. There are more ways than one to skin game. Find what works best for you. Good luck and have fun makin bacon!

You can hang them from about anything that will support the weight. A block and tackle would be helpful to hoist them up but you can also hang a pulley up and use a 4wheeler or truck to pull them up. If you dont have any of that you can just throw a rope over a tree or something and a couple people can usually pull them up. It really depends on how big of a pig you get. You can skin them on the ground if you have to but it is alot easier if you can hang them up. It is nice to have a gamble but you can also use a pipe, tree branch, use a separate rope on each leg, ect if you have to.

Added info, we actually have a tripod with a hand winch and cable for lifting deer up in Montana. I think we bought at cabelas. Where I pig hunted I had 50ft of truckers rope with a loop on one end and the gambel on the other. Thru the loop over a tree limb and then attached it to the tow hooks on my truck and pulled the pig up to my desired hieght!
