Guys,

Looking to find some private lands in Central South Dakota (north of Wall) that may be accessible by paying the landowner a weekly trespass fee. Is this something that even happens anymore or is everyone just leasing for the season? Any insight as to how to locate these properties and what to expect to pay or offer would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

I've found some gems over the years on Craigslist and from biologists/wardens/state habitat managers. Snoop and ask, repeat until you find something, then repeat after you lose it has been my experience. The most recent ranch I've leased I got referred to me by a forum member looking for a lease, I referred him to a WY opportunity I choose not to pursue, he told me if you have time, try this lead. I did and will be there this year, so you never know. Some charge by the day, some by season/species, all over the board. I paid from $100 a day a gun to $1,500 for an entire season a gun. Most of my experience with leasing has been in OR and MT and one spot each in NM & SD, since 1998. The one private ranch I found in SD was fantastic for 4 years, then it sold. I am not familiar
with the area in SD you seek, but I'd start with Craigslist, the local warden and biologist and ask lots of open-ended questions.
