How many states do you apply for?

Most of my hunting experiences have been helping friends of my Dad when I was a kid. My pops didn't get into it until later in life right before I hit high school so my falls during that time were focused on sports instead of hunting. Last year we went on a whitetail hunt in MO because my Dad guided a friend who drew out for bull elk so he let us hunt land that he outfitts in exchange. Now that I'm at a point where all i want to do is hunt I was wondering how many states do you put in for every year and what to expect to pay just in application fees every spring/summer. Being from NM I love Elk, Muleys and pronghorn so that's what I want to focus on for now.

Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Kentucky, and occasionally Montana. Probably try Idaho this year too.

Wyoming every year, $120 for antelope/Elk/Deer points.
Utah every year; $10 app fee and half the license as it covers two years of apps (don't need a license to hunt).
AZ every year, $160 license and $15 for app/point.
NM, $15 app fee?
OR, $57 combo license, $8 each app.

Besides our home state of Oregon, I have apps in for Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Texas, South Dakota, and Maine. However, with a family of five, I'm pretty selective about what I apply for in those states, and I'm thinking about dropping some of the longest of the long shots next year to save a little money.
