I was wondering if anyone has any info on if mule deer will still be in the high basins or avalanche chutes at or just below timberline in colorado for the 2nd rifle season? Usually around oct. 20th? I know the snow will drive them down but what about when there hasnt been much snow up high? Is there still any nutrition in the vegetation up high then? Thanks guys!!

As long as the snow isn't bad you will see a few bucks at timberline second season. You won;t see many deer, just a few of the old (wise) bucks waiting on the rut. Your hunt will involve glassing for hours and sometimes days. One of the biggest bucks I have seen was at timberline during 3rd season. I was chasing elk up high because it was unseasonably warm that year. Like I said it is a tough hunt but can be worth it.
