I know we are still right in elk season...but have stumbled upon a question that has left me scratching me head. How to we complete a cow elk hunt without using our PP's? My buddies and are looking at a Wyoming DIY hunt. Do you just wait for the left overs and hope everyone buys a tag in time? I don't believe you can go into the drawing with mixed tag types...I am sure there is a simple solution I just cant see the forest for the trees...

None of the doe/fawn or cow/calf draws have anything to do with Preference Points, so you have no worries losing your PPs unless you don't buy a PP or apply for a full price tag for that species for 2 consecutive years. They are applied for separately and you can apply for them whether you apply for a full price tag or not.

Applying for type 1-5 & 9 (full price) licenses and type 6-7 (reduced price) licenses are separate processes and as TG said have no bearing on your preference point accumulations. They are straight random draw.
