Contemplating buying a bow scabbard. In the past I've been riding my mule with my bow on my pack (badlands 2800) the scabbard seems like the safest way to travel but not sure. Horse hunters, how do you travel with bow?

Spring is coming time to start training for Sept!

Bow scabbard works pretty good once you get it rigged up right...I prefer not riding with a bow on my pack due to ducking under limbs..etc. The Outfitter Supply scabbard has always worked great while ive guided bowhunters. Also not to big a pain under your leg while in the saddle. . Usually when i pack into camp long distance I will pack my bow in a hard case on a mule as a top pack or side pack if you have two bows..but thats riding 15+miles into camp and im just picky about having my axe already under my leg on the saddle.

You know exactly what Im talking about, steering a bow through tree limbs off of your back does suck. Also I was wondering how it would ride under a leg, sounds like Ill be trying the outfitter supply scabbard , thanks

Outfitter Supply is the best one out right now. If you fiddle with it you can get it behind your leg.

My Gripe is getting it to fit with my 10 inch stabilizer. Luckily I have a quick disconnect on the stab, but I do risk losing it..

I tried a bow scabbard, but found it to be more trouble than just putting the bow on my back and throwing a strap around the arrows to make sure they don't come off in the trees.

YMMV.

They have a newer one out that covers the majority of the bow as well...I usually rig them like you have in ur second photo...Suck it up tight behind the cantle and then drop it low as possible up front..It doesnt bother my leg at all and is almost not under your stirrup usually. I usually dont wear much of a pack if i can help it, which is why my preference for the scabbard will remain, also when riding and bumping right into elk that havent seen or smelled ya yet, its quick and easy to hop off, tie up and pull my bow and go.
