Wondering about the hunting in hood river valley unit. West of the parkdale dee area in particular. I have an opportunity to lease a property in the area and was curious what the hunting is like. Is it general or draw for deer and elk? Mainly just wondering what the area was like having never been there.

It's a beautiful area. The deer around there are blacktail and hunting can be good or bad depending on where your at. There are some elk around but not in huge numbers. It's general season archery deer and elk. General season rifle elk and very easy to draw rifle deer.
If I was going to buy a hunting lease in Oregon I'd look elsewhere. For deer I'd look around the john day river or the Deschutes river. For deer and elk combo I'd look around the crooked river area. Oregon has a very generous land owner tag system so in most areas you won't have to worry about drawing a tag if you have a big enough piece of land to hunt.
