Hey everybody, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from the Redding area, hunted around here my whole life, finding that the older I get the more picky I am about what bucks I shoot. Maybe cause it's getting harder to pack them out! My kids are both in college, son is away, daughter still hunting with me this season, probably the last for a couple years though as she will be transferring.
I've hunted in Western Wyoming 5 times, the first two me and my dad and the last three were me guiding my kids. Since I could buy two youth tags for the price of one adult it made more sense to take them and focus on them getting their deer.
After hunting Ca my whole life, my first hunt in Wy seemed too easy! So the second time I went I used a WW2 Japanese Arisaka 7.7 with handloads to make it more of a challenge. That lil bit of cockiness cost me a nice 28"+ buck that was just too far to try a shot with an iron sighted rifle, but I did end up with a nice 5X5!
I mostly hunt in Ca C zones and spend a lot of time in the woods with trail cams, mostly built by myself. Below are pics of my daughters last buck, my sons last buck and my last two bucks, all from Ca
