I have been lurking for a few months now and finally decided to join. My name is Michael i hail from the Willamette valley of Oregon, i have spent most of my 32 years as a hunter chasing Blacktails in the blackberry infested draws and ridges around my home town. I have also hunted Roosevelt elk in the Cascade ranges of Oregon, in recent years my family and I have grown tired of the declining deer in our home hunting areas and have branched out in the last 5 years and moved too the east side of the state. It has been a good decision for the most part, but my best decision was to go out of state for the first time and i will never look back. I had the time of my life in Wyoming hunting Antelope, i was lucky enough to share it with my Dad and one of my Uncles as well as 2 good friends. I was able to kill a decent buck. I have never been able too do it in Oregon, and it was an easy draw unit. Nothing like tagging out with 2 bucks and 4 does, we ended up with 13 between the 5 of us. My Dad is 71 years old and had never killed an antelope until this year, he killed a nice buck and fulfilled a bucket list item. He is already planning next years trip, funny thing is i had to beg him too come on this trip. By day 2 he was already taking about bringing more of his brothers next year.
I am an avid game processor and enjoy doing sausages and and cutting meat for friends and family. I have gotten pretty good at it and i am in the process of building a shop and working towards becoming a licensed processor. I am a professional firefighter/emt and have been for almost 20 years and have been in the fire service for 25 plus years. I will be able to retire early and i am hoping to take that hobby into retirement. Does not hurt my wife is a Cordon Blue chef and has an international business degree lol. Anyway enough babbling that is a little about myself hopefully ican share some info at some point that will help someone along the way as well as take some away from the other members.

Welcome to the forum. We have several really great Oregonians here and it will be good having another. If you ever get the urge to come up north to hunt, let me know. Where in East Oregon are you now?

I still live in the valley, we just travel over the mountain to hunt. My wife and I are going to look into a retirement property over there someday. Hopefully in the La Grande area is where I would like too be.
