Havn't seen him in awhile as he lives in Nashville. Been to a few of his concerts when my Dad was alive as he got tickets whenever he asked for them. He is actually my 2nd cousin as his mother is my Dad's cousin. I love the song too. He told me that he got tired of singing it, but realized that it was "his" and will sing it until he can't anymore.
It is without a doubt his. It became even more iconic for my generation that was in High School for September 11th. Was on the radio quite a bit at that point.

What is up with these idiots that want to change the flag because it is a symbol of war and aggression. Members of my family have served this country since the Revolutionary War, and this really gets me hot! Any elected official that votes for changing the flag should soon become an "ejected" official! Let them know it now!
