Lets say there is a group of 6 people and the state only issues 5 tags for an area.

Will they expand this to allow the group to hunt?

On another note, lets say there is 6 tags and a group applied with three points average. applications come in and a unknown applicant applied with 4 points would our group get kicked out of the drawing?

WG&F does adjust numbers to accommodate group size but I'm not positive in your exact scenario. If you study the draw odds, you will see examples of them giving out more than the listed quota. For example if a party of 2 is the last hunter drawn in an area, they will issue an extra tag to fill the party application.

I believe your group is still in the drawing until the last tag is drawn to fill the quota. For example, look at the draw odds for area 37 deer, non-resident PP type 1. There were 6 tags left after the people with 5 PP drew, then they issues 8 tags out of the pool with 4 points. That means a party of hunters were the last ones selected- they issues 2 extra tags to fill the party.

Thanks for the response.

I just verified with the G & F. They will expand to accommodate and somehow they calculate for this (Hence the maximum party of 6 people).

HOWEVER: If it if your group of 6 with 3 preference points vs another person with 3 points competing for the same tag, you do NOT receive a 6:1 chance in that draw. each party holds a weight of 1 "Chance". So your party vs the guy with three points its a 50% chance you r party or he will receive that tag. (I think I said that right)

That changes my stagey a little for sure.

True, you definitely lower your chance of one person drawing when you apply as a group. If you are selecting tags in your PP range, that shouldn't be an issue.

Party apps aren't combined into a single app but because every member of the party has the same random number the effect is the same.
