We all have three points.
Looks like we are going to give it a go next season.
Not going to be looking for trophy just a good time.
I'm going to shoot the first billy with horns for camp chow then help everyone else.
About 4 of the 6 have never been out west so it should be interesting.

Have not decided on a unit yet and none of us have hunted antelope.

Looking to camper camp and we will probably go the second week of the season.

Does anyone know off hand if group application are allowed into the special draw in Wyoming?

Without looking it up, I believe it is.
I had to do a double take when I read the word "billy" to ensure I was in the antelope forum. I thought you were messing with us! :)
2pt in special will get you into some descent lopes.

lol I always call any goat with horns billy...lol

I think we are leaning towards Unit 84 or 114. Not 100% sue yet.

Yes you can do a group application, then everyone gets a tag, or doesn't.
With 3 points you can get a solid unit. Just look over draw odds, and then look at the hunt planner on the G&F website to verify there's a good amount of public land.

Yes, you can do a group special application. I believe you can draw a decent area without going special if you want. If none of you are concerned with trophy potential no reason to waste the money. Shoot me a PM if you want my 2 cents. I could have shot 15-20 respectable(70" or so) bucks last week in an area that only takes 3 points... I only saw one that would score 75" and none bigger than that but it was the 4th week of the season.

Good luck in the draw.

Based on what I have seen so far winter could be a factor to consider. Some parts of the states have gotten a fair amount of snow already, albeit warm temps have helped get rid of some of the snow.

I would like to hunt antelope and mule deer at the same time. Just so everyone has a reason to be busy. I don't know if this is practical looking at it from a draw standpoint. I don't want to burn my points. I'm sure there is an antelope zone that takes 3 points and has a 2nd draw for mule deer so we don't loose our deer points. I haven't done much reasearch obviously lol

Fyi: It's getting tougher every year to draw a deer tag with zero points even in in mediocre areas. Not impossible, but tougher than it used to be.

This is true. Lots of guys are now of the mindset that they just want to go hunt. Get out West, hunt what you can and fill that tag.

This is very true from most of the deer I saw at the meat processor. Heck two of the guys admitted they killed a lot bigger white tail deer back East. I saw several spike and small fork antlered deer. I did not fill my mule deer tag. I wanted to kill a good one and was fine with not filling the tag.

Right on Scott! Personally, I hold out as long as I can, but come last light, I'm bringing meat home for the cost of tag, drive, and time spent. My hunt is not just measured in inches, but in memories. Packing one out (buck, doe, spike, predator) adds to my fond memories. Given the chance, I always fill the tag on a willing participate on the final day. :)
