Tell me about it...ive seen it first hand over the past 5 years. Use to snowmobile out to the feedground areas out gros ventre to look at elk and just enjoy the day...no point to go out there anymore if it involves looking for elk. . And i dont believe the statement being made by park officials and game and fish, about the Jackson elk herd being similar in size as in years past. The majority of these elk being seen on the refuge spend the summer living on the million/billionaire estates on the river bottom along within grand teton national park. The actual amount of elk in the surrounding national forest areas, including the gros ventre I believe has dropped significantly. Talk to people who have lived here for many years, and it is nothing like it once was. BUT, i sure hope they raise the wolf quota out gros ventre and extend the season, would give me something to do when the snow flies!
