My problem with a lot of this is the name "trophy hunter" that the antis place on us.

I went over to Africa a few years ago and yes, I was trophy hunting. But every usable piece of meat off of the animals that I shot was used. I have a friend who's wife was mostly against hunting until I had a sit down with her and explained the process that is used over there. She couldn't believe that 90% of the animal is used one way or another. All she had in her mind was that there was no way that one man was going to consume a elephant.

On the grizzly hunt people have to realize that yes, they are a trophy. But then so was that 12 year old girls first 2 pt buck. In my mind they are all trophies but you will never change the anti's mind no matter what you do. My friends wife still does not like hunting. But she does realize what good it does now.

As long as large portions of our society have a separation from what death is and Isnt, many people will struggle with hunting. We have made life clean and convenient and in doing so have separated ourselves from the reality that death must occur for another to live. Sadly antis choose not to acknowledge their own contributions to death of some form or fashion.

I didn't say, nor imply that Hunters weren't Conservationists Montana. The only tag holders who aren't going for the trophy aspect are the Bunny Huggers/ Photographers. I do agree that many won't be really selective and eat tag soup instead if the opportunity presents itself.

I wrote a two-part article for Eastmans' on why we hunt and the good it does us and others.

From paying for wildlife management to funding conservation non-profits to donating meat to the hungry, spending valuable time with family, clearing our heads, connecting with the wonders of God's creation, and unlike non-vegan extremists, making sure that all the meat we enjoy is free range and organic in the fullest sense, put down in a far better way than would a lion, pack of wolves, starvation or disease.

We spend far more on conserving and enabling wild animals to flourish than 99% of the extremists who think of themselves as the only true conservationists.

We are conservationists who understand that animals do not act like cartoons, that animals and humankind are not equivalent and killing a wild animal before the other causes I listed is perfectly fine. A bear is not my relative, nor a man with a smaller brain. It is not a pet, either. It is a wonderful, majestic, wild animal that kills other animals on a regular basis and will die in some way,

We harm no one, do a lot for many people and do more for wildlife and conservation than all the members of extremist groups put together.

If you're glad big game, turkeys and waterfowl aren't extinct, thank the sport hunters that saved them. If you truly want to save African elephants, rhinos and such, bring in sport hunters. If you enjoy our public lands and wilderness thank sport hunter Teddy Roosevelt and others like him. If you enjoy seeing big game animals because they are common enough to see them, thank the sport hunters who fund their flourishing.

This is a load of crap. It’s like giving a kid a lollipop and then 2 seconds later taking it away. The people that want this shut down don’t realize what there Ancestors had to do back in the day to survive. You didn’t eat lettuce and corn all winter long. You hunted to survive. Honestly now days people have lost there way and it’s sad to see. If people want to hunt let them hunt. I myself trophy hunt to a degree but I also like to eat what I kill.
