This is the main reason i didn't apply. It is frustrating to me that the hunting community has to rely on population of game anamals, true data to prove that the game and fish agencies are making the right choices with the herds and that our financial contributions to conservation can be swept aside for emotions. I couldnt imagine how pissed tag holder #1 is. I fear that this is the direction that hunting is going, both a rich man's sport and constant lawsuits by anti hunters going judge "shopping" so they can meet their agenda. At least this has seemed to take the heat off of the wolf hunts!

Exact same reason I didn't apply also, didn't want to get my hopes up.

Sad these judges use thier power with no sound basis concerning wildlife. Fieel bad for the hunters who were lucky enough to draw a tag.

Judge just ruled to stop hunt for two weeks(restraining order).
He ruled to stop the hunt while he mulls it over, then after the 14 days he may decide to stop the hunt and make Wyoming cancel the hunt. Damned Judges are biologists now too it seems. The bunny huggers shopped for and got a liberal Judge to do their bidding. It's a shame.

I wonder how much the "Grizzly bear support groups" paid this judge behind the scenes to ensure he blocked it at the 1 yard line...

Follow the money people. I guarantee you that judge had a bag of cash show up on his door randomly.
Almost every situation in life can be and is influenced with cash to go in one direction or another. Its reality.

Crazy, I guess a judge knows more about wildlife management than the biologists. Politics have no place in wildlife management.

Exactly 88man, even in my liberal home state of Maryland biologists still control bag limits, seasons and quotas. Judges, politicians and special interest groups should have no say in hunting seasons.

It should of been known that there was going to be a court challenge to these hunts and it also should of been known that the anti's would time it as they did that if the judge did issue a injunction or whatever that the hunt would not happen. Which is exactly what happened, now if the Wyoming DOW could find a friendly judge today (Friday) to overturn the injunction then the hunt could go on.

Politics as usual.

It was the same thing when the first wolf season was proposed. It took years in the courts to actually have a wolf season. It's gonna take years for a grizzly hunt as well.

The title of this article cracks me up ?trophy hunters?. Goes to show how little they understand hunting. It should just state ?conservationists?. I assure you the avg hunter is 10 times a conservationist than the avg folks fighting this.

Well to tell the truth, the hunters applying for these Grizzly tags are just that....Trophy Hunters. They sure aren't hunting Grizzlies because they're considered top notch table fare. It's for the skull and the rug.

Respectfully.... I would have to disagree. Very few folks are going to be super selective. I would imagine the first mature boar they see, it will go down. Therefore in my opinion, that just makes them a hunter/conservationist (not that trophy hunters aren?t). Conservation is managing wildlife populations at a sustainable population. It has been identified that the grizzly bear has reached that population, therefore it is now time to manage.
So now we, as the people, have 2 options, at a cost, for the states to manage or as a revenue source for the state, and allow hunters to manage.
My vote is the sound business practice. Easy to throw the hunters under the bus here but in my opinion it?s basic economics. Not to mention, once again, generally speaking, the hunters are the true conservationists with their financial and physical efforts put forth every year.
