Just returned from my Greenland muskox hunt.
Awesome adventure in freezing temps.
I'm not much of a storyteller but will rough it out.
I booked a 6 day hunt with 4 hunting days. It took 3 days to get there. I did go a day early just to be safe and fortunately I did. I was the only hunter in 3 camps that made it on time. Everyone else was 3 days late and left with just over 1 day to hunt. Just very limited flights into the area currently.
Roughly 100 miles round trip on snowmobiles in below zero temps. I actually only saw 3 muskox myself. Snow levels are really bad this year.
The stalk was far longer than I expected and right at 2 kilometers. Could see them in between but finally made the shot from 50 yards. I could only see 1 at the time and although he's an ancient battered bull his horns are busted up pretty bad.
After the bull was down I spotted a fox barking at us from up on the rocks and was able to use the bull as a rest and took him also at 130 yards.
All in all a great trip but wouldn't do it again due to the extreme amount of travel and costs have increased over 25% since I booked my hunt. I had 11 flights total round trip.
2 other hunters were successful with the 1 day they had to hunt but actually stalked multiple herds to get it done with over 5 miles on foot.

Side note. Couldn't tell muskox apart from beef and I ate quite a bit of it while I was there.

Excellent job on a grand adventure. Many pundits would poo-poo "shooting a muskox off a snowmobile" when they have no concept on just how much of a stalk you have to do in very tough conditions after spotting the critters. Judging by the worn down horns, that bull was a true old warrior. The fox and cod were an added bonus. Can you legally import the fox hide after processing in Denmark?

I actually chose not to bring the fox back due to the cost of it. They wanted 400 euros to skin and certify it due to some regulations. Then it ships at different times than the muskox would. Only once a year on the foxes I guess. Anyway I figured I'd be in at least 1k just for the fox so decided I'm happy with the pictures.
