After my antelope hunt, I had an appointment at the hospital for a CT scan on my shoulder. The ortho dr wanted a more concise view of the damage before my upcoming joint replacement surgery. Much worse than expected, I need a bone graft too., which he doesn't do. I have been referred to a specialist for the surgery. No date now. Looks like the rehab will be longer. Bad thing about all this is the other shoulder is just as bad!
Dammit, dammit! This looks like it won't be fun at all!

Sorry to hear this. No surgery for me yet, but I think it's coming. Lot of joint pain shoulders, knees and hips. Almost every pain I have I can associate with an old injury, usually something stupid I did. When I was younger I wish I knew what I know now. I always thought when you healed, that was it. Boy was that wrong. Comes back to bite you again when you get older. Best of luck and wishing you a rapid recovery. BB

You are right about the relationship with old injuries and pain and problems when you get older. Mine is all from my football days. I remember seeing some pro football old timers events when lots of them need canes, wheelchairs and have terrible mobility. Sure glad my son chose to play golf in school.

I'm sure my 2 ACL surgeries from football will catch up to me sooner than later. Not looking forward to that. Golf would have been better haha

Oh man CC that's a bummer. Are you going to be able to wait till your hunts are over and comp shooting before you proceed?

Hunting is done. Only applied for antelope knowing I needed the surgeries. I will attend some of the matches in a non shooting capacity. Range Officer, Match Director, etc. I was hoping to be back shooting by summer, but won't know anything for awhile.

Good luck CC. Father in-law had his shoulder done this winter, and it sucked for a while, but he said it was totally worth doing. The everyday pain stuff is pretty much gone it sounds like. Hopefully that is your case, too.

That stinks. Sorry. The thought of a long rehab just gives me shivers, but they are usually worth it after you are done. Hang in there.

CC sorry to hear the news. I know your pain. I just had rotator cuff and tendon repair in my right shoulder. It will probably be about a year before it's back to being really good again. 6 months to be mostly healed. It is slow and you cannot rush it. Best of luck. I cannot go hunting this year. Not worth taking a fall and putting my arm down or something. I would tear it up again.

Sorry to hear about the complications with the diagnosis, but the quality of life (i.e., hunting) will be so much better when you're mended up. Once my Dad got his hip replacement, it added years to his hunting career. I know it will be the same for you. Keep us posted.

Really sorry to hear about that. I agree with you, football is horrible on the body and often on the brain. Thank the Lord your brain is OK. You seem pretty lucid, anyway. :)

And, yes, you will really appreciate being more bionic after you get through the surgery and the rehab. I've got one knee replacement that is terrific and the other knee that is bone on bone and up for replacement in January, so I can relate to hunting with some pain.

That's OK, it's better than not hunting! We'll fix it after the season and be "better, stronger than before."

Man CC I hate to hear that. I'll be praying for a light speed recovery. Hope they can get you in and rehabbed up quickly so you can get back at it next fall. Keep us posted on progress.
