Thanks guys

Duct tape is easy enough.
Never broke in boots before. Figure I may put close to 200 miles on them before my trip, that should work. I have a desk job so daily walking is on the agenda.

Do have a pair of mid-high boots as my backup boots.

Whenever i get a new pair of work or hunting boots i fill them up with water and wear them until they dry out. I think it helps the leather streach out and shrink where they need to. It really helps them break in without putting a ton of miles on them

No joke I wear hikers with a steal toe. My first trip antelope hunting I flat wore a pair of new boots out. But i learned that a steel toe will keep a cactus thorn out of my toes.

I've worn in my Danner's - they broke in easy. Put some KGs Boot Guard on them too - looks like I walked thru some shiny truck bed material. It is very flexible and feels plastic-y. Hopefully it will help my boots last 2 or 3 years.

Just a question, ive hunted eastern Montana a few times and will be in Wyoming this fall, I don't remember thorns or anything being an issue in Montana. Should I be assuming that Wyoming is way different or? I normally just wore some nice hiking boots in Montana (Columbia to be exact) Mid height and never remember having issues.

That's good to know! How do their sizes run? I don't have the money for those super expensive boots. Thanks for the info!

They're less expensive and not very heavily insulated at all, but military surplus winter weight boots are tough as nails, offer fantastic ankle support, break in easily and quickly, and are inexpensive. I highly recommend the ACU over the OCP (desert tan vs coyote brown). Seems like they hold up much better.
