Headed out again Sept 1 for a 9 day DIY archery hunt with some buddies. I went solo last year and found a couple favorite haunts. My question to you guys that are out there is what kind of weather have you received this year? Am I gonna find the wallows I did last year or are things going to be dried up? NH has been in a wicked drought. Just not sure of my plan of attack for this year other than hit it hard from day one. I'm rambling again but any info on how to quickly check your area to see if it is similar to last year? I'm up in the Uncompahgre/Silver Jack area.

One of my coworkers was camping at Silver Jack a couple weekends ago and she remarked about how green and lush it was. Review the "Camping in Bear Country" info--she had a bear in camp; it came in as they were setting up camp and before they knew what happened it got in her cooler and stole her breakfast sausage.

Slugs, I saw an area that I will be hunting in unit 77 is yellow from your link. From your experience with that website, that anything to really worry about? I know that it is the first color off of a normal not drought climate.

I think you are spot on. First color gradient is just that......first color. From what I'm hearing and seeing ( in most places in Colorado) forage production was well above normal again this year. Lots of green all over other the burn scar areas. I think you will be fine.
