Gettin old is rough

Well I thought this guy did not make the summer but he returned and man gettin old sure is rough!

Interesting to watch the past 3 years of this buck. Never knew where he summered but he came back to the same spot every winter and this year I saw him only 1/2 mile or so from the previous pics.

He lost the great brows he had and I was surprised how much he regressed this year..

The photos of this old boy sure show the story a lot of us can relate to as we age.... headgear regression (hair loss in our case), body going downhill, and you notice fewer and fewer "girls" hanging around with him each year.

Yep...knee replacement, ankle replacement & both shoulders too. Instead of "girls" it's slower mature women I can catch! LOL

He sure has regressed over what he once was. I wonder how old he is ? I would guess 7 or 8 at least. I also wonder if he will make through this winter ? Though, where he's standing in the photo there's no snow.

It is funny that I thought he was going to get bigger 3 years ago. Maybe he got a bit sick or injured this summer and that is a reason for the antlers this year. I have seen them come back to "normal" if this was the case. Pry it is just some bucks only get so big.

I would think he should make the winter this year as this buck is on the east and not the west side of the divide.. East side of the divide has much less snow that has totally melted to 8500' or so.

Yep, getting old is a bummer for all- even I feel the regression in my body the last few years....

Cool thread, age catches everyone eventually. There are always a few whitetail bucks around home I get pictures of and see when scouting that are smart enough to elude me during hunting season. I have pics over the years of some as they get older, peak, and decline. Some go where I can't hunt during season, some go nocturnal, and some just plain outsmart me.

My whitetail last year was older, on his way down too. His points and main beams were all shorter than the previous year but he gained in mass. The taxidermist estimated him somewhere between 7 and 9yrs old, kinda what I was guessing also. I wouldn't have expected him to regress that much until after 6.
