I hunt the Uintah's and I got all outfitted to start archery this year. I have a great spot with big animals and I have a couple questions to ask. Do any of you pack in for 3-4 day trips? If you do, what kind of pack do you use? I work at a outdoor retail store and the people over packs are trying to get me to pick a mountaineering pack over a hunting pack. the pluses of the mountaineering pack are the design, fit, and size/weight. The hunting pack (I'm leaning toward the Eberlestock Dragonfly or the Badlands 4500) Eberlestock is waterproof and is quieter. How much will I need the quiet features of the hunting pack. Do you guys find yourself hunting on the pack-in or will I be able to drop the pack once I set up camp and go stealth from there. I'm only doing the elk hunt this year but for deer, which I hope to archery hunt next year, I will have to sneak in on with more precision. I usually kick about 20 deer out of there beds when I hike up to my elk spot so if I want a chance at them I will have to be prepared to go in quiet, at least that is my plan for next year but I don't now much about archery. Looking for any advice.
