G'day all,
As the post says I'm from the great Southern land, names JD.
Passionate diy big game hunter and my bread and butter is definitely red deer. Free range reds are a far cry from the high fenced ones people see pics of from nz in terms of size, but a weary mature wild red stag is about as hard as hunting can get. do some varminting in the summer mostly chasing foxes and hares with the bow, bit of kangaroo culling and fishing and love hunting with my gsp.
Keen to get over to the states for a diy or huntswap hunt in the next couple of years, just tossing up where and what for. Hearts set on elk or mule deer at this stage.
Other than that, just keen to share some of my hunting experiences from here and NZ with you fellas.
I think nz steals our thunder a bit on the international scene but we do have 6 species of deer (4 readily found in my state), there's no closed season or tags for anything except hog deer, millions of acres to hunt and a licence sets you back about $50AUD.
Got pigs, banteng and buff up north but in the south we're all deer pretty much.
Here's a bit of what we have down here and in nz that I've hunted.

Happy to help out with info on hunting Australia for anyone interested.
Cheers
JD
