Please take the time to help Nevada and weigh in on this issue as well as share and post with like minded others to help support your fellow trappers and hunters :
Information from one of Nevada Trappers Website :

Extremely Important!!Ok all of my friends on this site. The next couple of weeks I would appreciate your help. The ANTIS are trying to get laws passed
To end all calling contests in Nevada
All bear hunting
Lion hunting with hounds
Trapping on public land
Mandatory trap registration
Shorter trap visitation times
Basically they have gathered enough support to end coyote hunting,lion hunting,bear hunting,and trapping as we know it. We need to write letters make phone calls and constantly hammer state house and senate members. The time to ACT is NOW Everybody! In a moments notice we need to get to GBC for the video conference hearing. Please share this post with everyone! I will inform everyone ASAP on times and locations. We all must stand together now and forget any past differences. If we don't stand against the Antis Now We Are Doomed!!

Update from Nevada TA Legislative Liaison:
The legislative website that was posted has a function where you can follow bills once they get introduced and have bill numbers.
There is also a place where you can weigh in on a bill and make comments. I'd encourage everyone to canvass their spheres of influence and ask them to participate for you against a bill.
It isn't necessary to contact every legislator at first. The members of the natural resource committees have the power to hold a bill or let it come for a vote.
The Senate committee is only five people, the assembly has a few more. The chairperson is the main one to contact.
Keep posted on the hunting sites especially southern Nevada coalition for wildlife as timely information will be there.
Real time information is on the leg. website. Hearings are usually Tuesday and Thursday for natural resources.

Nevada trappers need your help!!!!!!!!!

A pair of bills soon to be introduced into the Nevada legislature would eliminate trapping in the state. The bills, SB 364 and BS 365 will:

* Prohibit the use of traps on public lands (Nevada is about 86% public; the remainder is residential and metropolitan area);

* Require trappers to post signs in any area where they have traps set, whether on public or private land;

* Allow the public to tamper with, remove or disturb traps that are lawfully set if they deem it a matter of “public safety;”

* Require trap registration;

* Impose a 24 hour trap check requirement;

* Require the public disclosure of a trapper’s personal information;

* Impose a sales tax on trappers and require every trapper to report the amount of any profit made in the state.

1. Go on the State Website and register your opinion on both of these bills. Here is the link: https://www.leg.state.nv.us/App/Opinions/79th2017/A/.
Scroll down to SB364 and SB 365 and vote "Oppose". You don't have to be a resident of Nevada but it will ask you for an address so they know whose district you reside in. Legislators read these polls and test the political breeze before voting. If they see the antis have overwhelming support, they will go along with them. Then get your neighbors, family, friends, kids, spouse, etc. to go register their vote as well.

2. Contact the members of the Senate Natural Resources Committee (a 5 member committee). If this committee passes the bills (it only takes three of them to vote in favor), then the bills will go to the full Senate floor for a vote. You can reach every member of the committee at this email address:
[email protected]

3. Show up at the hearing that will be held on both bills before the Senate Natural Resources Committee and voice your opposition. You usually get 2-3 minutes so its best to have something prepared in advance. The hearing will be in held in Carson City (remember Kit Carson, the trapper? Ya, we named our capital city after him), and video conferenced to Elko and Las Vegas. ITS A MUST THAT YOU ATTEND AND VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION. Don't wait for "the other guy" to do it. He's counting on you to be there.

4. If you are a Nevada resident, find out who your Senator and Assemblyman representatives are and write or call them to voice your opposition.

Done, thanks for staying on top of this.
Thanks we all have to stick together and need to demand that the bill to guaranty hunting fishing and trapping gets avote as it passed committee but is not thought to get avote. These trapping bills are sponsored by 2 of the 5 on the committee that gets to vote to send them to the floor for a vote. We Have to stand together here and other states that are fighting these fights.

I've never trapped in Nevada, heck I've never ever stepped foot in Nevada but I commented on both. Good luck! The anti's are after us from every direction it seems.

2 of the SNRC members sponsored these bills? How do they get put on this committee? Governor appointed or sponsored by the Senate?

Just an update from what I've been involved in:
Bears and lions are still good to go, bills died in committee.
Trapping appears to now have a mandatory registration, that's the only change.
The right to hunt, fish and trap was squashed. We have to start that process all over again.
Myself and several others have started a non-profit group called Nevada Sporting Dog Allianc and we have been very involved in this legislative process. Sending letters and testifying in hearings. We want to keep our traditions going and avoid the west coast anti plague. Check us out on FB and get on the email list for updates.
