That lady could shoot! If you read the story, did you see the group of bullet holes in the side of the skull. Looks like 5 rounds in about 1".
What a lot of folks don't realize is that back then it was one shot one kill for food for the table and ammo was not wasted.

I remember being at one of my aunts and uncles home way back in the late 50's and my aunt was lighting matchsticks with a old Stevens 22 rifle shooting 22 shorts. When my cousin would go out rabbit hunting with us in the 60's he was almost required to bring home the same amount of rabbits as the number of 22's that he shot. That family was some great shots and I learned a lot from my cousin up until he went into the Army and never came home.

My Grandfather said it was like that growing up in western Montana.

Pretty amazing to me to be able to hit a grizzly in the exact right spot with a .22 under that kind of pressure. I cannot imagine being able to hold the gun steady enough under those circumstances.

we used to try to do that, the best I ever did was take the white off the tip of the match.

I'll bet she was as cool as a cucumber, and calmly picked her shot. I read a story about that, that shot was measured in feet not yards.
