Fixed vs Mechanical

I'm shooting a Bowtech RPM 360, 29" draw / 70lb pull. FMJ 340 28" arrow with a 4" wrap/ Blazers/Luminock / 125 g heads.........not 100% sure of my arrow weight but I'm shooting 322 speed. I suspect the arrow may be a little light and short.

You're arrow is way to weak in the spine department with that setup. Need 300's

I am a firm believer in Mechanicals and especially rage. However two years ago I switched to Solid Broadheads. I am completely sold on them. They are expensive but last longer. I have killed 4-5 deer with the same head and they still shave hair off my arm. They fly true and penetrate better than a Mechanical. It is my setup on elk and big Midwestern deer. On antelope and smaller deer half time I use Rage and Half time I use Solids.

Update.... Looks like Ulmer Edges aren't even being made anymore? I got 5 left, hope I get some good use out of them.

I've had great luck with Grim Reaper 100g. They sure thump an elk hard especially at the speed your bow is shooting. I can tell you I shoot a Hoyt Spyder 30 with Victory HV VForce arrows and shooting 70#. They're light 6.9 gpi but even at long range they have great penetration. I think mechanical broadheads have come a long way and offer great penetration.

I would agree. We are gonna try the Rage hypodermics for mule/pronghorn this year and I may switch to them for elk.

You cant beat the Montecs! More big game animals have been taken with that head than people realize.
The blade angle is different than that of many other broadheads so as to allow for re-sharpening on a flat stone.
If you have shot the Montecs and have liked them at all, you owe it to yourself to check out the Strikers, sharpest blades on the market!!
