My Grandfather would probably just have a fit if he was alive seeing pike & bass in the river. He was born and raised in Stevensville and fished the Bitterroot and Burnt Fork a lot. Back then it was mostly trout. I remember him telling me his uncle (who was a Metcalf) used to use a little dynamite on occasion. Times have changed.
When my Grandfather was a kid, he and his gang (that's what he called them) were nicknamed by their teachers "The Burnt Fork Savages". Ride horses to school and hunt or fish on the way home.
