First time archery elk in CO help!

My brother-in law and i are going to do an otc elk hunt in CO this year. Living in MN we have no experience with elk, any help with picking a unit would be appreciated. Both of us are in are early 30s in good shape and want to get off the roads away from people, not looking for a monster just trying to get into some elk and have a good hunt. Any info will be helpful.

Call the Division of Wildlife and ask to talk to a wildlife biologist. They will give you the info on wilderness areas that are located in OTC units with lots of elk. Once you narrow your search down then ask some questions on here and you will get a lot more help. I hunt out of state every year and have found if you do a little home work first it is easier to get some local info.

Take a look in the pinion juniper areas below the square s summer range in unit 22 i have been there once and did see some bulls but i was there towrd the end of archery season and the muzzleloaders where smokin around us but had a great time
