South end above Sunbeam(on road). We are flying in further north for deer in November.congrats, what part of the frank where you in? Just curious as it is a very big place. Did you fly in to a backcountry strip? or is that the November hunt?
I am setup with the Stone Glacier 3300 with some supplemental dry bags for more food and water. The verdict is still out on this bag. The comfort is great, but I can't quickly shoulder my gun with it on to use my binos. NOT WATERTIGHT. I need to organize my thoughts and will perhaps expand the conversation in the "Pack" thread area to get some input. I am not going to bag(no pun) on it because it is a great bag.Nice job. I have a solo trip coming up in Colorado. I look forward to joining you in taking a backcountry bull. What type of pack are using? Again, Great job. Keep it up in november
Thanks for the info Tim. We were fortunate to find a guy who has been into this area for years. The rules are...we don't tell people where we go. I hope it's a good time.I have hunted out of big creek a few times. Big creek drains into the middle fork of the salmon. Mainly flown in. Be prepared for lots of hunters on your fly in hunt. Lots of guys do it and I found you need at least a 2 hour hump from the air strip to start getting away from guys. The couple of times we did it, we had a big camp at the airstip and than spiked out of the stip. The stip was cabin creek and there where 10 camps there. From what I understand most strips are this way. We also packed flew in our own firewood. No chainsaws in wilderness and most of the wood had been scavenged. WE also have been sitting on the strip for 5 days after the hunt ended do to weather. Be prepared to stay longer than your flight is booked for. Also have a fun time.
