I have been doing search upon search and reading review after review on rain gear. I know this subject gets hashed over allot. I am thinking either the first lite or kuiu rain gear. It seems people have nothing but good to say about either one of them. The one thing I am wondering is noise? Has anyone had or tried both of them? witch one is quieter? I know all rain gear has some noise associated with it I am just wondering if one is better than the other?

Thanks,
Kraig

I have the first lite rain pants. Not silent but very quiet. They seem to be sized bigger than expected. I have the large and they wear like a 38 inch waste.

I expect that the kuiu would be just as good.

I have the KUIU YUKON rain gear for my up coming BC hunt. Zip on /off reasonably quiet, but I haven't out them thru a rain storm yet. I am very confident though that I'll be dry!

Thanks for the insight guys. I think you will be really happy Pete. I probably read nearly 100 reviews over the weekend and everyone was extremely happy with packability, waterproofness, and breath ability. A couple people mentioned that they were a little noisy witch got me concerned. But I haven't ever seen rain gear that didn't at least have a little noise associated with it. Thanks again.

Howdy Kraig,

I have the KUIU Chugach NX Rain Jacket and Pants. I used them this past year hunting and actually use them everytime it rains. I used them throughout the winter. In fact, we've had a lot of rain here in Texas lately and I've been wearing them daily to walk from the parking lot into the building to work. It keeps me dry and I have my hands free to carry other things I need to take inside and out. I don't find them noisy at all. In fact they are very quiet. Perhaps it is because they are a little broken in. Or perhaps the rain is louder than the suit is when I'm moving. This is a great product, one of their best products. Expensive, but very durable!

My two cents worth... SilverDollars

I would like to throw one more into the mix. I am looking at buying new rain gear this year as well. I am looking at Kuiu, Sitka, and Core 4 Element. The Core 4 Torrent jacket breath ability and water proof rating are lower but it is also almost half of what Sitka and Kuiu want for their gear. Has anyone used the Core 4 stuff?

I love the core4 stuff especially the torrent rain gear. Have stayed dry in it the last three years and it is very quiet too!

I've used Core 4 Element. I found it to be decent rain gear with a brushed fleece face so it was fairly quiet. It was a bit heavy for my liking but I'm a bit of an ultra light fanatic. The Sitka Dewpoint gear is feather light and extremely durable (for it's weight) although not exceptionally quiet. I never really worried too much about how quiet my rain gear is, the rain usually negates the sound I may make wearing it. The Sitka and KUIU are incredible cutting edge products and fabrics. Hence the cost.

Just my .02 for ya.
