First Fall Snow in SW Colorado

Got our first fall snow in the La Platas here in SW Colorado. Probably get some more tonight, but doubtful it will stay .....still too warm!

I didn't take pictures, but the Jarbidge Wilderness got a skiff up top as well as the Ruby Mountains in NE NV.

Been snowing since I took the picture, try to get more tomorrow. La Platas & San Juans have snow below 9,000'. Should be a much better opener for 1st rifle than we had for M/L season. Good luck to all........

Let it snow, I have new skis on one sled and the other two are ready. I started and ran them recently. If there is snow in NM 16c we will be ready

Now I wish it would snow, forecast is showing 80s with lows in the mid 40s. Glad my only tag is filled but it's making it hard to help others.

Hey Colorado Cowboy, thanks for the weather update. Is this just a dusting, or do you think it's enough to push the deer down?

Most of it has already melted, but it has gotten colder at night and another storm predicted for later next week.

I was in the Lizard Head in a big storm, I think that was 1980. Trees were being blown down all night and even next morning and it snowed heavily all night.

Hot again for a couple of days, 80's today, possible storm late in the week, just before 2nd season opening. Here is the snow today...what little is left!

It looks like Colorado and Wyoming are turning into the "banana belt" of the Rockies. Hope you get the snow you need Cowboy.
I almost got a sunburn while Cow Moose hunting in the Snowies at the beginning of October....Hot and very dry!

Seems like the biggest problem we have here is it is to damn warm. In the last 2 weeks we have had lots of rain & snow above 9000', but it stays mostly in the mid 30's to 40 at night, just too warm for the snow to stick. More moisture forecast for next week.

Let's hope snow starts sticking soon...I know seasons are set 5 days later next year, not sure if that will make a difference or not. Thanks for keeping us posted. I'm putting in for a 4th season hunt next year and will be checking Colorado weather more than my hometown weather the whole time.
