I have largely done away with the pre-packaged 1st aid kits and now opt for lots of tape, gauze, apothecary bottles with hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl, a small tube of neosporin and...I know it sounds weird...but I use maxipads for my trauma kit. They are cheap, absorbent, and don't have a shelf life like Quick Clot does. I can squash this all up in a gallon ziploc with room to spare and it is cheap to refill.

Those pre-packaged first aid kits just have too much stuff that I never use although I kept the scissors and tweezers out of the last one. I think those are very important to have.
