Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but I was looking for some information on what specific items guys are putting in their first aid an emergency kits. I see it on pack lists but was looking for specifics. Going on a five-day Hunt for the first time and I'm very curious what the bare essentials to bring are?

If someone could point me in the direction of the thread with that info or perhaps start here it would be appreciated.

The answer will vary. How many in the group? Where and when will you hunt? If you are alone and way back your needs will be different than a party of 2+ closer in. Here is some good info. http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/firstaid-kits.html

Myself, I carry some wet ones prepackaged wipes, a couple stretchy fabric bandaids, small tweezers, blister care supplies, triple antibiotic( little dab in a zip lock), 1 large 4" ish wound pad, advil, a little tape, and a small blood clotting sponge if alone, along with any meds I may need. I've been known to leave out the blister supplies and just dab lip balm on any hot spots on my foot and on the outside of my sock over the spot. Mostly small light stuff to take care of the little issues. If I did not have another person with
me or a way to contact help, I'd have more.

My kit has duct tape and super glue. Amazing what you can do with that combination.

Actually i have a big one I keep back in the car, and keep a small pouch with some bandaids, a some gauze pads and medical tape as well.

This is mine to the "T" except I leave the space blanket. I hunt September and don't worry too much about going w/o space blanket, however last year I did spend a night on the mountain with nothing but a fire. It wasn't too bad but it was my fault. Definitely carry some Leukotape. Best stuff out there. Also Motrin. You will need it especially coming from FL. Drink water and I mean LOTS of water and when you get done drink more. Dehydration makes altitude sickness worse but if your hydrated it won't be as bad.

This is very helpful. I appreciate the feedback so far. Looks like I am on the right track with what I have set up. I have a few meds, bandages, blister care, matches, tweezers, gloves, wipes, and Spot messenger. And after the trip skiing to winter park in February, with the altitude change, water is priority one! Thanks all!

I know this thread is older, but felt the need to add. Two items of importance, espically solo, are quickklot and a tourniquet. Neither weigh much and will save your life if you or someone has an arterial bleed.
