My Sprinkler Contractor finally started digging ditches and installing my automated sprinkler system. When he gets finished, about 3 acres will be on an timed, automatic watering system similar to a golf course system. Now when my wife and I travel, everything will get watered. No more dragging around sprinklers and hoses.

Nice, now all that fresh watered grass is going to grow even faster and you'll have to mow it more often.

Good thing that you are looking at a new mower. I actually think that you should fence it off and get some goats and sheep.

How deep are they?

Can you blow them down with air compressor to avoid them getting busted all to pieces by the cold?

We really love it here. Very rural and quiet. Having the pond and irrigation water really makes it nice. Just finished talking to my contractor and he is pretty much done. Tested all the zones (8) and everything looks good. I'll be watering starting at 2:00 AM; 1/2 hour per zone.....done by 6:00 AM every day.

Should be a very nice water bill :p
CC is pulling from his lake so just paying for the electric to run the pumps and control mechanism. I built a house in 2006 and had a system put in for my 1 acre. I never used it much due to the high cost of water. 6 zones for 30 minutes each every other day ended up with a $600 water bill. that was the last time I used it. I just let the grass go dormant.

My property came with 6 shares of irrigation water. I am entitled to 1/2 acre foot of water per share per month during our irrigation season (April thru October) and I pay $225.00 PER YEAR for the water. Owning shares is owning the company and our historical water rights go back to the 1880's.

My pump is 220 volt and it costs me about $20.00/month to run it. Runs 5 hours a day.

Yep...finally saved up enough pennies, collected alum cans along the road & collected unemployment to afford it....LOL!

Seriously, it is really great not to have to drag around hoses and sprinklers anymore.

Hope all is well with you.

Looks like a great set up CC.
You'll have to post some more pics once all the grass fills in and greens up.
Thanks. It is really great having irrigation shares and water so I can keep my pond full and everything watered and green.

You must have spent a lot of time moving sprinklers around previously, lot's of work!
It sure does sounds like a sweet deal with the irrigation shares, you have a great set up now :)
