For the last year Century Link has had a contractor installing underground fiber optic cables in our rural area. Got a call today from them wanting to know if I want to upgrade my internet service to 30 megs (now have dialup @1.5). I said HELL YES! They have it all setup to hookup Dec 30th and my monthly bill is going to be $5.00 CHEAPER!

I'm a happy camper.................

Where I am at with Century Link the DSL service is good but when I start streaming movies or TV shows it goes to pieces quite often. I have found that if my server is anywhere besides Eagle County is when it happens the most, and Delores is one of the locations where it happens. By the way the office that I am out of is just across the street from me.

A quick way to see where you are at is to just log into Yahoo.com and look at the weather. It won't be your local area most of the time but where ever the server is located at around Colorado and who knows where else. There have been some towns pop up that I have no idea of where they are located at.

Also on the speed remember that if you log into a site that is still at a 1.5meg that is what speed you will be at if you download anything or look at on that site. The higher speeds are great for gaming but then you get into that bandwidth problem that I talked about above. But for some reason I don't think that you are into gaming.

Congrats on the upgrade! If you stream videos of any kind, Netflix to YouTube instructional videos you need 3meg for standard definition, 5 for HD, and 15-20 for 4kHD. So you'll be in good shape for awhile CC.
I've always thought it would be cool to live in the time that power was brought into homes, indoor plumbing, or motor vehicles. It had to be an amazing time seeing and living through those advancements. I've now got to see cellphones and the internet come to life before my eyes. They are definitely life change, but I still say the changes listed above would have been more of an amazing thing to see get implemented into society.
I still have a lot of life left(God willing) maybe the next advancement will be the greatest of all.
