When you say hard and expensive for the reservation... How expensive?

KENTUCKY! That is if I can ever get a tag for it. They are a little easier on non residents than the western states are.

How big do the bulls run in KY?

New Mexico, because I am a life long resident and we have a decent elk herd.
Forecast is looking real good again this year!!

Non typ record 390 typ record 371 I think. Lots of 320 bulls.

Not the best opportunity at a tag but we have nice Elk (And BHS) in Nebraska.

WY and MT are quite beautiful places to hunt elk...

Can I let you know in 10 years? ha.

I have always liked Montana. It is expensive and that is a big turn off, but there is tons of public land and many many general permit areas you can hunt.

Montana's great; Idaho's great; but I have to go with the state with the largest elk herd...Colorado.

I can't remember. It's been about 20 years since I was on the reservation. From what I remember, the tag cost would choke Donald Trump.
