I have never tried cold camping for hunting, I will definitely give that a shot this year. I will do a search through the forums here and see if it has been started as a thread already, if not I'll ask more newbie questions here. You guys have been very helpful, I appreciate it!

Vinny another way to think of it is a sneak into the woods to be undetected for a longer period of time.........or getting to your spot insanely early to listen to the woods for a few hours before shooting light. I do this every Sept when the animals get pushed due to human pressure.

Excellent post and some great advise!
Hunting Second season for the first time in an area that I have always drawn a first season tag. This should be a learning experience, and a productive one I hope. My buddy got thrown from a horse last year and I had to get him out of the woods and to a hospital on day 2 of our 2017 hunt. Lots of room in the freezer right now.
Goodluck to all. Congrats on your success Slugz!

I've always struggled with this a little. If head out while its still dark and you bust the elk but cant see them to take a shot what was the point?

Now i suppose if you go to stand more than a hour before sunlight perhaps this is less likely to happen but still very possible isnt it?
