I am an Idaho native and lifelong elk hunter. Neither I or my partner drew any good elk tags this year. I am thinking about picking up one of the Bear river zone A tags to chase cows. I have never been in the area and do have one scouting trip planned. i just wondering if anyone had any opinions on the number of elk in the areas 77&78. I have heard lots of complaints about too many roads. I am willing to walk and go where ever the elk are. Is there still good areas where If a guy is willing to put on his boots he can get away from road hunters and find elk.

Thanks

eagle now, but i have lived all over Idaho. I just chose that area because of the open cow tags.

I live on n the east coast and have hunted white tail most of my life. I did an elk hunt last year in northern Colorado. No elk but I did learn a lot. I'm getting closer to retirement age and looking for a place to move where I can enjoy hunting and fishing. Idaho has my interest. So far I have looked at places in the SE area of zone 50 in the area of Moore and in Salmon. As a longtime resident, if you would be kind enough, what are your thoughts? Any other areas that you would suggest to look? Thanks, Steve
