A buddy and I are bivy hunting on foot in Unit 63 and a backup of 53. Looking for any recent experiences, good or bad. Suggestions like where is a great place to access the public land , leave a vehicle for days without running into everyone and their dog. We just want a decent experience with not a ton of people. Understanding that there are always possibilities of running into other hunters/hikers/etc. Elk are always a plus!

I have a cow tag for the 2nd season for these units....great info in this thread. Anyone have any other suggestions?
So.......I would venture to say....not a bunch of people hunt there....if the locals don't then probably a solid hint......regardless lots of animals in Colorado......start with the Colorado hunting Atlas online.....determine summer concentration areas and where the migration/wintering areas are and it will most likely paint a very good picture of where to start.
