yeah I watched that on the news. so glad he made it out, what a scary time to be in. when I took my 9 year old up the other day I almost talked myself out of it, kept thinking, what if something happened to me, if I had a heart attack or stroke or whatever, what would he do? im always teaching him things he needs to know but thought scares the shit out of me. im glad this guy made it out, crazy story!

Wow! Glad he made it. We talked about this when my dad broke his leg on a hunt. Sometimes you gotta do whatever it takes.Good for him having the strength to get out of there.

This is something I have often thought about, as I too hunt alone. My wife asks me if something happened to me how would she ever locate me. I jokingly reply to just look for the buzzards, they will show you where I am. All kidding aside it is something every one of us should be prepared for. However the bottom line is I would rather cash it in out there than dwindle away at home. I am 65, and just finished elk hunting for the year. All told I spent 10 days alone. There were other hunters camping in the area and some I have come to know just from hunting this area for 5 years. But each hunt I went out on was solo. The potential is there and I hope if ever needed I have the knowledge to do what I need to. Maybe next year I'll get a little more prepared for the unforeseeable. I am thinking of looking into Spot or something similar. Glad this fellow made it out, things could have easily gone the other way.

Wow, what a story.

Buy a personal locator, In Reach, or a Spot and hunt.

I have a Inreach and it works great. No worries about where I am at if I get in trouble help can be summoned.

What a tough guy.
I just had a pacemaker put in and spend a lot of time by my self in the woods so a spot or inreach will probably be my next must have.
