Elk hunt with bow for first time

A buddy and myself are thinking about applying for Wyoming archery elk unit 41/42 for 2013. We"ve never bow hunted for elk before or this area period. Is this a pretty good area for first time bow hunters ? We don't mind to pack back in to get away from crowds. We live about 2000 miles away from there. We won't be able to do any scouting until about 3 days before season comes . I'll probably be having some questions later on how to properly read a topo map correctly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Go to Wyoming Game and Fish wed site, look at harvest reports and draw odds page. I back pack in those areas. Usually see elk on every trip, but that is usually in july. Make sure you know sighs and symptoms of the altitude illnesses. Also look into huntinggpsmaps.com.
